Are you a culture enthusiast? Then the place to be on Saturday, the 29th of October, 2011 is The Yoruba Drum Festival at Terra Kulture.
Yoruba Drum Festival is an initiative of cultural diplomat, Ayodele Ganiu. It was created as a bridge for the gap in social and economic relations between Nigeria and Germany as a result of cultural differences. Although the focus of the event is on the essence of drums in Yoruba land, other aspects of the Yoruba culture such as language, dance and music will be explored.
This event, organized by Intro Afrika and Germany based Egbe Omo Oduduwa Berlin e.V will feature presentations on Yoruba Drums; A Language Technology by Dr Tunde Adegbola, Executive Director, African Languages Technology Initiative; Yoruba Drum Festival: A Youth-led initiative on cultural diplomacy and tourism development for South West Nigeria” by Bayurat Ibitola Fashina-Jinadu, Centre for Black Diaspora, DePaul University, Chicago-Illinois, USA.
Get ready to be entertained by performances from The Talking Drums Orchestra, Ayanbinrin,and Yoruba acrobatic dancers, Kaaro Oojire Cultural Troupe!
*Yoruba Drum festival begins by 4pm at Terra Kulture, 1376, Tiamiyu Savage, off Ahmadu Bello way, Victoria Island, Lagos.
